We were poor, we had no food enough to feed the whole family (still church was pushing us to give in kind donations weekly).
Then we managed to have food but we had no education, still we improved, we fought for a better society: 1968 revolution, workers' rights, etc.
Now we have food, we have education and despite a permanent crisis, robbery and mismanagement of public funds (Bettino dammi un lavoro!!!), we are in some way able to get choose the kind of job we like. In other words: we work to live instead of living to work.
So what? Evolve or extinguish? Indeed, my family is that kind of family that evolves, improves step by step, generation by generation. Still, there is a something more worth to be revealed and remarked.
In order to make it easier, let's answer to a straight question: what is next goal? What is the duty of present generation now that there is no basic limitation (considering that no one can carry the burden of saving the world)?
Live a joyful and almost fearless life.
Since there are virtually no limitations to the chance to choose the path, to define the objectives or to find the resources to achieve them, the most important thing is to be honest and clear about the feelings, to remove the whole package of burdens that social conventions charge on our shoulders from our birth on and ... live.
Live with a clear view, out of sin or guiltiness, honestly to ourselves, without hurting third persons and hunting what is really worth to be a life project.
This is the legacy of my forefathers.
